EMPLOYMENT AND EXPERIENCE I. Philosophy, Being, Computers
Research, Experiment and Writing, 1985-, Arcata, California. I have organized a small business, held a variety of positions including work at an inpatient psychiatric unit. My purpose has been to have experience and to follow my research interests.
Research Interests: Philosophy, Evolution, Design - relationship between World, Mind and Evolution; use in design, knowledge, engineering, and education.. I plan to start a research institute and have made a study: Leadership in Research Organizations. Recent topics: psychiatry; Being, Mind, Consciousness, the Absolute; computers as thought tools and as form of being - concepts and experiments; social and group action. Scientific explanation of mind and consciousness Experiments and exploration in being, relationship and transformation.
Computation - visual tools, program development, document development, numerical analysis.. Visual Basic programming and development of user interfaces - general, database and text applications; and Visual Basic for Applications: programming and use of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Fortran 95, Visual Fortran (90/95) and Visual C++ with exposure to MFC, and mixed language programming. HTML, JavaScript and VBScript tools, page and site design and site maintenance. Projects include: 1. Automation of complex document development and maintenance, 2. Automated translation among bookmark directories, file directories and document outlines, 3. Automated translation from file directories to a set of hyperlinks, 4. Automation of document to web-page translation with table of contents and footnotes as internal links, 5. Design and implementation of concepts and organization tools for a popular CD based encyclopedia and for Internet research, 6. Design, construction and maintenance of a complex, evolving website, 7. Ongoing development of conceptual research tools - (a) representation of concepts as hierarchies, storage in automated databases, automated translation among alternative hierarchies, and production of new concepts, (b) use of file/directory manipulation in research organization, and (c) visual research tools, and 8. Implementation of numerical algorithms.
