Introduction

As of December 2023, this is a stem.

The plan for stems is to flesh them out into essays that (i) are readable (ii) treat their subject with care and wholeness, especially relative to the way of being.

Meaning

The term ‘god’ has so many uses, that a small excursion into meaning is necessary. From on meaning, is a sign in association with an iconic concept (image), and possible intended objects.

What ought god to mean?

From the real metaphysics (essence, detail) the universe is the realization of all possibility; it therefore finds itself in absent, manifest, and ultimate peak forms in which all beings merge as ultimate.

These peak forms are one meaning of ‘god’. There are remote gods, but, from the metaphysics, they are not especially significant as material, existential, or symbolic powers.

God

If you are at the bank of a river teeming with life and aware of the history of life, you may get a sense of being part of it, rising from simplicity, moving toward higher states, and participating in the process, on the way to peak being.

This may be termed a ‘god process’; all beings and the world are part of it.
