Hi Jaysi:
I seem to remember that you
said that 9/14 is your birthday. So: Happy
Birthday. Regardless of whether it is your birthday, I hope that your stay
in India is going really well.
How are the celebrations of
India's 50th anniversary of Independence?
I had a little fun with the
computer today - wrote a small and very elementary program in Visual Basic.
Work on my project is a challenge to my resources and it is only some days that
I feel equal to that challenge. Being sufficiently imaginative is a
challenge. I do at least a little work
on it every day and already quantity is building up. Quality is a big concern
and much of that quantity will need to be pruned and what is left will need
improvement in many ways the most important of which will be faithfulness to
reality. Every now and then I feel as though I'm in control of my fate but
mostly it's a struggle. I hope to get to a place where I feel more potent.
I have five weeks of vacation
starting on 9/22. I will spend most of it in the mountains. Am hoping to be
really physical, but also to get to get some good contemplation and meditation
done.
I hope you got my letter of May
26 plus E-mails. Also hope you did not react negatively. I expressed affection
for you because I felt it. I expressed a hope for friendship because I liked
you and more but felt that to think
in terms of more than friendship would probably not be realistic in terms of
anyone's long term interests. Would hopes, ambitions, goals and personalities
mesh? I did not know the answer to these questions. And I continued to respect
your reservations.
I don't want to sound as though
I'm making any assumptions about you.
Anyway, I still like you and
care - of course. I felt something
special for you and still do. And will probably continue to do so even if get
married. Yes, friendship could pose a problem under those circumstances. But,
of course I do and would respect that.
I hope to hear from you. I'd
like to hear how you are, what you have been doing and how your hopes for your
year in India are working out.
9:30pm: I'm going out to see
some escapist action-adventure movie.
