Hi Jaysi
I'm in Arcata taking a break from the mountains...just enjoying...writing up some ideas that I had...upgrading gear...a little lonely...but having a wonderful time...it is so relaxing to be away from work.
There is a little tension associated with the fact that I will be back at work...because now working on my ideas, writing, hiking, out in the rain and the ice at times and lovely brilliant mountain sun at times...I feel whole. Looking back on this past year I see, especially this year, I have accomplished a lot...with a more whole and firm vision of what I am doing in my life...of my ideas and their relation to experience...despite work and the cauldron that that place is...but I have worked so hard that it has made me tired and somewhat fragmented. But I also think that is not so bad because it is my life. And the difficulties do not permit me the luxury of being highly analytic in my thoughts - I am capable of that - and so more real...closer to humankind.
Hey...I could take off from here in personal reverie but I'll spare us both.
I contacted an old friend in Austin yesterday - Swadesh Mahajan. I just mention that because it does feel good to be in touch with good Indians.
Have two weeks of vacation left...am heading back to the mountains tomorrow. Have a new sleeping bag - my first down bag, a new tent, new mountain rain parka, new back-country tires on my truck. Will spend 7 - 10 days may be the entire two weeks. May come out early, visit my old room mate who is now staying with his mom in the foothills of the Sierras.
If you Email me today I'll get it before I go back out. I might have time to visit if I come out early...if not then some time later...and of course always in accordance with your availability, needs and wishes.
Hope you are doing well.
Love, Anil
