Dear Minu and Jayanta
I think
we were last in touch when I wrote to you in the 1970s but I remember you
often. My parents give me the news whenever they have interactions with you or
others in India.
Recently
I have been missing many things I remember about my life in India .I'm not sure
why. I recently turned 50. Hard to believe. I went for a walk a few weeks ago
and, in an isolated place, I felt "I am a stranger here."
I wrote
to Kajal last month on the occasion of Dilip's death. I asked her to give my
regards to you.
My life
is not bad. My parents may have told you that I work at a Mental Health
hospital. I have enjoyed the work. It can be difficult and I am thinking of
making a change. May go back to engineering or something like that. I have been
learning some modern aspects of computers.
Every
year for the last 10 years I have spent a month in the mountains near here. It
is something that I like to do. Fortunately, my health is good so far. I live
in a farming area near the ocean. I also enjoy writing and philosophy is one of
the areas of interest.
I have a
friend who is visiting India. Her name is Jaysi Chander. She may visit
Calcutta. I have given her your address and telephone number and have told her
that she should visit you if she is in Calcutta.
I think
I will keep this letter short. It would lovely to see you and I hope that that
may be possible some time. Please do write to me. I hope to here from you.
Please convey my love to Kajal. Minu, please convey my respect to your father.
I end with much love to you,
Ani
